This is a privacy notice that sets out how CALA uses and protects any information that you provide to CALA when you use this site – www.calaelearning.co.uk

 Who are we? 

Care and Learning Alliance (CALA) complies with the Data Protection Legislation in respect of the collation, processing and storing of personal information. We respect the individual’s right to confidentiality. 

“Data Protection Legislation means all applicable privacy and data protection laws including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679) (“GDPR”), Data Protection, Privacy and Electronic Communications (Amendments etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 or any successor legislation to the GDPR and any national implementing laws, regulations and secondary legislation, as amended or updated from time to time.” 

CALA are registered with the U.K Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and are governed by their rules and regulations.

What this Privacy Notice Covers

This privacy statement only covers the processing of personal data by CALA that CALA has obtained from you either visiting www.calaelearning.co.uk or signing up and accessing our e-modules. It does not cover the processing of data by any of other sites and documents that CALA provides links to throughout the e-modules to support the learners learning experience. It is your responsibility to check the websites Privacy Notices when you use links provided to navigate to another site. CALA is not responsible for the privacy policies and practices of other sites even if you access them using links from www.calaelearning.co.uk

If our privacy policy changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page. Regularly reviewing the page ensures you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, CALA will share it with other parties.

CALA are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected and to this end only ever collect DATA as necessary. As a visitor to www.calaelearning.co.uk you will only be asked on your first visit to accept our Cookies Policy, we do not collect any data that personally identifies you as an individual. 

Information www.calaelearning.co.uk collects as a CUSTOMER. 

For FREE modules and voucher codes 

To access our modules you are required to create an account. Our ‘checkout’ facility is operated by a third-party verified & secure service called WOOCOMMERCE PAYMENTS and is subject to their Privacy Statement and Terms and Conditions 

To create an account, you are requested to provide: 

  • Your name, email address, local authority you work in and your job role. 
  • For your security, you are asked to set your password. 

What we use this data for: 

Your name and address that you provide are solely used for the purpose of you creating your own access to your personal dashboard of accessing the e-learning modules and will not be used or shared in any other way. 

The local authority you work in and your job role information is used for statistical reporting only and does not identify you in any way. 

When paying for modules 

Along with the above information, where there is a need for a monetary transaction for the e-module you are purchasing, we use Woocommerce which is powered by STRIPE (PCI-DSS compliant). 

You will be asked to provide: 

  • Name on your bank card 
  • Long number on your debit/credit card 
  • CVS number 
  • Card expiry date 
  • Card Billing address to verify you as a person and check payment

  • Stripe uses safeguards and compliance measures to ensure an adequate level of protection of personal if and when data transferred outside the EEA and Switzerland. Stripe’s existing measures include the EU Commission’s approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to accommodate international data transfers.

What else? 

At the end of each of the CALA modules you have the option to provide feedback on the module 

Through this you have the option to provide us with: 

  • Your name 
  • Job role 
  • Comments on learning 
  • Rate on impact of learning and use of module. 

This information is used to inform reporting to our Board of Directors, Scottish Government and funding partners for the purpose of identifying the impact made and demand. No individual is ever identified through this reporting – it is your decision what data you wish to provide 

Your Rights 

You have several rights regarding your data and how it is processed. A summary of these is shown below. 

  • Right to be informed 
  • Right of access You have the right to obtain confirmation of any personal data we are processing and to access it. We will provide you with a copy of any data we hold in an electronic and/or paper format and let you know why we have it, who (if anyone) it has been shared with, and how long we will store it. We will provide this information free of charge, within 30 days of receiving your request. Details of who to request this from below. 
  • Right to rectification – You have the right to have your data rectified if it is inaccurate or incomplete. 
  • Right to withdraw
    • Where the personal data is no longer necessary in relation to the purpose for which 
    • was originally collected/processed.
